Happy Day of Love! I’ve never cared too much about Valentine’s Day, but I do like the idea of celebrating all forms of love, not just the love of romantic partners. I’m taking myself to yoga tonight for a little self-love. I hope you do something loving for yourself today too.
Quote of the week:
“You will never be able to experience everything. So, please, do poetical justice to your soul and simply experience yourself.” —Albert Camus
What I’m reading:
This Is A Love Story by Jessica Soffer. I’m reading it for Jo Piazza’s new book club and enjoying it so far!
What I’m listening to:
Democracy in Retrograde: How to Make Changes Big and Small in Our Country and in Our Lives by Sami Sage and Emily Amick. I started this on my run this morning. Very timely and helpful.
What I’m watching:
I started Kinda Pregnant, the new Amy Schumer movie on Netflix, but have been watching it in 10-minute increments. It’s been a busy week! I love her though. After hearing all the hype, I made a second attempt to get into Severance and failed miserably. The first episode puts me to sleep. I can’t get past it.
Writing news:
I have been doing some last-minute edits for Woman on the Verge and gearing up for release! The release date has been pushed back slightly to July 1!
Interesting things I learned this week:
- Dr. Seuss secretly created what he called The Midnight Paintings, which explored ideas of isolation, anxiety, and depression. He requested they only be released after his death. You can see some here
- Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl show was America’s most watched event since THE MOON LANDING! What?!
- The average person blinks 14 to 17 times per minute
- Allodoxaphobia is the fear of other people’s opinions
What I’m grateful for:
- All the love in my life. My daughter, my pets, my fam, my girlfriends, my handsome guy… I’m a lucky girl
- A surprise visit from friends who are like family. They spoil my daughter and I so much
- Trying aerial yoga. This has been something I’ve wanted to do for a few years and I finally pulled the trigger on a night my babysitter was here. It was so fun and I can’t wait to go back
- Rain! We need it here. Thankful there were no major mudslides
- An all-clear after my breast MRI. I’m considered high risk so I have to get an MRI in addition to my mammogram. I’m glad to have the technology for peace of mind
- The chameleon is still alive! Evidence is below
- A successful 15-mile long run this morning. Boston is 9 weeks away!
