When books become movies

Is anyone else excited to see The Great Gatsby? I am. Well, I’m a mix of excited and nervous. I absolutely LOVE the book and I’m not sure the movie can measure up to all the scenes I’ve imagined in my head while reading the book.

I have hope because there have been some great book-to-movie successes. Some of my favorites are:

Fried Green Tomatoes

The Shining

On a completely different note, thanks to David from State of the Book for nominating me for a Liebster Award.
liebster2I have no idea what a Liebster Award is, but I’m a big fan of awards in general. As part of the award, I’m supposed to answer some questions and nominate other blogs I love. Here you go:

1. How did you get into blogging?
It was a totally selfish pursuit. I have so many thoughts about writing and publishing and I needed a place to store them.

2. What has been the most surprising things you have come across when blogging?
I seem to have something to say on a regular basis. This is very surprising. Almost shocking.

3. When you’re not blogging, what do you do?
I think about blogging.  I sleep sometimes.

4. What do you blog about most often?
Writing–both why it’s amazing and why it sucks.

5. Where do you often do your blogging–at home, in private, on the go?
Who blogs on the go? I want to meet that person. I blog whenever I have free time in front of a computer, which is at work sometimes (I get a lunch break, don’t scoff) or at home.

6. If you could do anything and blog about it, what would it be?
Publish a book. I’d blog the hell out of that event.

7. What would you like to do if you had all the time you needed?
Uh, what would I NOT like to do if I had all the time I needed?

8. What’s your favorite book of all time?
This is really hard to answer. I’m pretty sure I blogged about this. Let me check… Yep: Here

9. What’s the worst piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“Just do it.” Ugh. Can’t you let me bitch and moan first, before I do it?

Some bloggers/blogs I love:
Betsy Lerner: The Forest for the Trees
Meredith Resnick: The Writer’s [Inner] Journey
Susan Johnston: The Urban Muse

  1. The Great Gatsby was one of my favorite books too…so far I think the casting is spot on. Let’s see how the actual film is!

Did you ever see The Namesake? I thought it was great, really true to the book. Hunger Games? Not so much.
